About Michael
“In 2006 I spent the summer in Massachusetts working in a summer camp for underprivileged American children. After working for 2 months I then traveled America for another month with one of my friends. At the end of April I just finished an 8 month work placement in Geneva, Switzerland.I worked for an international engineering consultancy there as a business development trainee.”
Why Leonardo?
“I have chosen Leonard Da Vinci as it provides an excellent opportunity to explore and develop in parts of Europe such as Romania, which otherwise would not be so easily accessible to a student. The Da Vinci program makes it affordable and also does a lot of the work for you in terms of organizing accommodation, flights and employment opportunities. It offers a wide range of jobs and is one of the best European work experience programmes I have seen.I also really like the idea of living with other students whilst visiting the country of my choice.”
About my experience in Romania“Dear experience seekers,I am writing in this blog after having had a terrific 3.5 months in Cluj Napoca. I arrived on June the 15th, not knowing what to expect from Cluj or Romania and not knowing a single word of Romanian! Upon arrival we were greeted at the airport by a friendly member of the BRG staff. Who took us to our accomodation which BRG had found for us. Things went pretty well from then on. The language classes provided were a success and after a week of tuition from BRG we could manage basic phrases and had begun learning a vocabulary which would let us survive throughout the summer. The next step was to find internships in the Cluj area which BRG assisted us with as well. Within a few days everyone had a work placement which met their expectations and requirements. “

Within no time at all we were all settled in and felt at home in Cluj-Napoca. The summer months crept in and we enjoyed some beautiful weather spending time on the terraces and in the parks. The Romanian people we met were all very friendly and some of us took time to show us around their favourite places, introducing us to their friends and even came away with us for weekend breaks. I found it very interesting learning about the Romanian culture and way of life and feel that throughout the course of the program I learnt far more than I had expected I would. For me the highlight of the experience was learning how to cook a Ciorba “Soup”. This might not sound much but for me it proved I had really learnt something about the culture and was something I could take home to share with my friends. “I would reccomend this program to anyone and would thank BRG for all their patience and co-operation during our time in Romania.
It wouldn’t have been possible without you guys!! “

Why Leonardo?
“I am very interested in joining the programme to acquire new skills that will benefit my career and allow me to gain a greater understanding of working and living in Romania. “

About my experience in Romania
“BRG work set up a great placement program in Cluj Napoca for me with an advertising company – in a field relevant to my career back home. Here I met some wonderful people and learnt a lot of valuable things about the country’s history, culture and politics. As well as getting to know Cluj, I also had the chance to travel – to see Romania’s otherworldly landscapes of mountains, forests and lakes. Both the placement and the country more than fulfilled my expectations.Very best to you all at BRG!”
